Rivers Police Service had a relatively quiet month for March. I attended the elementary school and we discussed stranger danger, and what to do when approached by a stranger. I also attended a police board meeting in St. Anne, Man. and gave a small presentation on how the selection tool developed by the province worked for the chief of police position for Rivers. One file of interest was on March 2 when we were asked to attend the CN station as there was an unruly passenger on a Via Rail train. An adult male was arrested for breach of the peace and transported to Brandon.

4-H presenters preparing for provincials

South Parkland Area 4-H Council held the Zone 1 Communications Competition in Minnedosa on March 8. There were 52 members participating who were given 4-H tokens provided by South Parkland. First place in each category was awarded a trophy, provided by our various sponsors. The results of the Zone 1 public speaking competition are as follows, in order of first to third.

Baker steps down from Neepawa Town Council

Plenty of games but movies are cancelled

Twenty-three members attended the March 26 meeting of Rivers 50+ Club; new member Hugh Depencier was welcomed. Information was given for the Seniors Day at Austin on June 2; president Ken Young will get information as to the cost to taking the handi-transit there. If you are interested in going, names are to be presented at our next meeting on April 16.

The Arthritis Society has partnered with Home Assistance Neepawa and District, Royal Canadian Legion and Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Harris Pharmacy, and Handy Van to provide a day forum in Neepawa at the Royal Canadian Legion, 425 Brown Ave, on Thursday April 16/15 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
