The Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Swan Valley Stampeders have hired Erik Peterson as its new head coach and general manager.

Petersen comes to the Stampeders from Herning, Denmark where he has been coaching amateur, professional and national team levels of hockey for the past 10-plus seasons. Petersen is originally from Dauphin and is excited to return to the MJHL. He played several years in the MJHL with the Dauphin Kings and Winnipeg South Blues winning two MJHL titles.

He replaces Dwayne Kirkup, who recently was named the head coach of the Neepawa Natives.
