The WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings road trip continued on Wednesday night with a 7-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Lethbridge.

The Hurricanes held a 3-1 lead after the first period and never looked back, coasting to the win.

The Wheat Kings scored their only goal five minutes into the game on Jayce Hawryluk's first ever WHL tally.

Former Wheat King netminder Ty Rimmer made 35 saves for Lethbridge in the win, while Curtis Honey stopped 40 shots in the Brandon net.

With the loss, Brandon's overall record falls to 1-1-0 on the trip and 6-4-1-0 overall.

Swyripa suffers injury

The Wheat Kings were without the services of veteran forward Jason Swyripa on Wednesday night.

Swyripa suffered a wrist injury in Tuesday's 7-6 come from behind win over Medicine Hat and will visit doctors in Calgary on Thursday to find out the extent of the injury and how much time he will be out of the lineup.

A former second round bantam pick of the Wheat Kings, Swyipra had two goals and five points in 10 games this season.
