One man has perished and two others are injured following an accident near Neepawa Friday morning.
Last Friday, Jan. 24, at about 11 a.m., Spruce Plains RCMP and Neepawa Emergency Services were called to an accident scene on Highway No. 16, about 13 miles east of Neepawa in the RM of Landsdowne.
Through police investigation it was determined that an eastbound car carrying 69-year-old Richard Gutowski (69 yrs) spun out of control and struck a westbound pick-up truck which carried two passengers.
Gutowski was deceased at the scene and the two people in the pick-up truck are being treated for their injuries.
Police closed Highway 16 for approximately three hours during the investigation.
RCMP would like thank the Neepawa Fire Department, the Neepawa and Gladstone Ambulance Services for their quick response as well as Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation who assisted in diverting the traffic around the accident scene helping to keep everyone safe.
Police report that due to the warmer temperatures the road surface can be very slippery and people should be take extra care when driving on the highway.
