If you have an opinion on what the Town's newly acquired Former CN Lands property should be used for, you'd be wise to head to NACI's Multi-Purpose Room tomorrow night (Thursday) from 6-8 p.m.
The Town of Neepawa, jointly with its consulting firm MMM Group, are holding a community design workshop tomorrow night intended to help develop a master plan for the property's redevelopment.
The consultants have already had an opportunity to look at the property but, before putting together any set plans or design for the site's rezoning, want to hear what area residents hope to see the property used for.
“The idea will be to pool ideas from MMM (Group) and public input on what people would like to see. It's an opportunity to be heard,” Mayor Ken Waddell explained. “It's an extremely valuable piece of property in terms of development for the community, so we want to make sure we get it right.”
MMM Group has already been consulting on the land for about three months – while also working on other jobs outside of Neepawa – and will bring a solid understanding of the property's potential to the meeting.
Following the meeting, the consulting group will continue to compile a report and proposed rezoning and development opportunities with the information it receives. A final report and redevelopment proposal is expected by early to mid-January of 2014.
