A pair of local golfers have ensured the Ladies Fall Classic title stays in Neepawa this year.
The team of Heather Douglas and Barb Reid finished with a total score of 77 points in the net par points tournament (under the stableford system) to claim the Ladies Fall Classic – formerly known as the Cornucopia - championship this past Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Neepawa Golf and Country Club.
The Neepawa duo edged out a pair of Brandon teams for the title. The Wheat City's Myrna Schween and Kathy Mitchell finished second, while Judy Collyer and Cyndi Solon placed third.
Overall, the weather was good and the golfers enjoyed themselves. NGCC golf pro Landon Cameron noted the number of tournament entries was also up from last year.
“The tournament went really well,” Cameron said. “We were up four teams, which is eight ladies, from last year.”
