A man with ties to Neepawa has shown that memories can be more valuable than money.
Tim Smith – the son of former Neepawa residents Cam and Cathy Smith (now living in Winnipeg) and grandson of now deceased Neepawa residents Mr. and Mrs. Walko, and Mr. Mrs. George Smith – pulled out a 7 iron on the 11th hole at the CFP Golf Classic at Devil's Pulpit golf course in Caledon Village, Ont. and buried a hole in one shot from 173 yards out.
That hole happened to be the only hole of the tournament covered by insurance, and it resulted in a $10,000 payout for the fortunate shot.
But for Tim, being able to say he has accomplished a hole in one was reward enough, and he decided to donate his winnings back to the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy which aims to facilitate innovation in the pharmaceutical field.
“The money wasn't something I had to start the day, so nothing was lost. However, I still have the hole in one, my score card, and the ball,” Smith said. “I am happy to donate the winnings back to the Foundation.”
