The Neepawa Bullets F.C. have won their third straight to remain undefeated to start the Westman League II 2013 season. After an opening half in Dauphin that ended 0-0, Neepawa and Dauphin both unleashed their offense as they combined to score seven second-half goals en route to a 5-2 Bullets F.C. win. Neepawa opened the scoring shortly into the second half, with Graeme Wilson finding the close corner off a low, laser shot to the left side. Arlindo Coro extended Neepawa’s lead to 2-0 shortly after by running on to a through ball, deking around Dauphin’s keeper and laying the ball in to the awning net. Wilson added his second of the game to put Neepawa up 3-0 midway through, but Dauphin showed life by scoring on a long-ball play to come within two at 3-1. Neepawa’s Wilson responded by rifling a ball from near the top of the 18-yard box to complete his second consecutive hat trick, but Dauphin again had an answer as they long-balled for a second goal to move the score to 4-2. The Bullets would clinch the game on a highlight goal though, as Jaime Freitas received a back-footed pass and rifled it to the left side of the goal for a 5-2 Neepawa win. “Dauphin is a good team. We played a possession game, but they were a bit run-and-gun, so they would counter quickly which made it an exciting back-and-forth match,” manager Kaiten Critchlow explained. “ The manager said he was also happy with how his team responded after key situations. “We hadn’t been scored on in the first two games, so it was good to see our guys go right back at Dauphin after those goals rather than have their heads down. That’s a good sign,” Critchlow said. Neepawa next returns to action this Sunday at 5 p.m. at The Flats when they host Brandon’s Mauritius.
