The playoff picture is still mirky with only one week of games left in the Neepawa Basketball League. Following wins by the Albinos, Huskies and Canada Gilas this past week, the three teams remained tied for second place with an 8-2 record. Meanwhile, the Portage Beermen lost and the Moose won for the teams to sit tied for fifth place with identical 6-4 records. Albinos 91 - FTW 57 The Albinos made FTW’s playoff hopes a little dimmer by defeating them 91-57 in Friday night’s only game. FTW, who now sits in ninth place, will have to win its final game of the season next week against the Master Cutters and hope for a Monterey loss against the Beermen to sneak into the eighth and final playoff spot. Albinos - Kyle Lund, 18 points; Arlan Flaming and Kaiten Critchlow, 14; Brett McPhee and Mark Perrett, 11. FTW - Alfie Vallo, 17 points; Lecaros, 15; Guarin and San Diego, 8. Aces 96 - Monterey 84 Heading into Sunday’s game, Monterey and Aces sat tied for seventh place with identical 4-5 records. Whoever won the game would clinch a playoff berth, while the loser would be at risk for falling out of the playoff picture with a loss next week. Monterrey led 48-46 at the half, but the Aces were buoyed by a 29-point second half from Guray to win 96-84. Five players combined to score all of Monterey’s points. Aces - Guray, 29 points; Velasco, 22; Angilo and Jenel Tamorada, 18. Monterey - Gonzalez, 20 points; de Leon, 19; Damayba, 16; Cerenado and Dalida, 15. Bison 116 - Master Cutters 82 The Bison scored a season-high 116 points while the two teams combined for a season-high 198 points in a Bisons 116-82 win Sunday afternoon. Bison - Ginez Jontt, Ramiaga, 21 points; Eduard Bustria, 17; Erwin Estabillo, Rafael Lopez, 16; Rafael Flores, 15. Master Cutters - Catunan, 29 points; Balabat, 19; Aquail, 10. Huskies default Kill Floor The Kill Floor Hoops didn’t have enough players to field a team, leaving the Huskies to a default win. Canada Gilas 78 - Beermen 69 Canada Gilas and the Portage Beermen battled out a close match until the dying minutes when Gilas pulled away for a 78-69 win. Gilas - Zumbilla, 24 points; Riuza, 18; Diaz, Quirong, 13. Beermen - Mesina, 29 points; Primo Carolina, 19. Moose 67 - Young Guns 66 The Moose clinched a playoff spot while Hymie’s Young Guns were officially eliminated from the playoffs in Sunday’s last game, a 67-66 Moose victory. Moose - Edmar Urpiana, 21 points; Rolandoj, 12; de Jesus, 9. Young Guns - Trevor Lizotte, 21 points; Keith Babcock 17; Jason Caines, 8. Week 12 All games at the NACI gym.
