Lionel Windus

Lionel Windus passed away peacefully January 1, 2013, at Country Meadows. He was born to Frank and Helen Windus on Jan. 24, 1917 in the Mekewin District, MB. In 1939 he married Olive Grose and they had two children: Beverly and Keith. Lionel was very active in his community. Lionel served as: a trustee of Ayr School, a member of the Cemetery Board, a Director at the Helston and Arden Pool Elevators, and Reeve of the RM of Lansdowne for twelve years. His career in farming expanded more than sixty years starting with running a threshing crew at age 16 to combining for Keith in his eighties. It was a life style he loved and never once regretted. He was predeceased by his wife Olive, daughter Beverly van de Lustgraaf, brother John Windus, sisters Constance Brown, Isabel Corlett, Elizabeth Soukup, Ruth Aitken, Naomi Tucker. He is survived by his son Keith (Darlene), granddaughter Kristine (Earl) Dixon, great granddaughters Kelly and Rowynne, granddaughter Laura (Vaughn) Cabak, great grandchildren Aidan and Taryn, grandson Martin (Chantal) Windus, great granddaughter Paige; son in law Pieter van de Lustgraaf, grandson Pieter (PJ) (Christine) van de Lustgraaf, great granddaughters Olivia and Alexis, granddaughter Olivia (Robert) van de Lustgraaf.
