The members of the Stoney Creek Dramatic Group, winners of the Neepawa District Festival have been invited by the executive of the Dominion Drama League to enter their play in the forthcoming Dominion Festival to be held in Ottawa next April.
This was supplemented by a personal letter from Lady Tupper, who pointed out that the Stoney Creek entry was the only Canadian play presented in the provincial contest last season and urged them to make every effort to be present.

Since the outbreak of the war it has been the policy of the Beautiful Plains Agriculture Society to donate each year a substantial portion of its receipts from Dominion Day Sports towards services: Red Cross, Canadian Legion, Salvation Army, Y.M.C.A. Athletic Patriotic Association, etc.
The work of the latter organization has been devoted to supplying sports equipment to the services, and its efforts in body and morale building have been commended by military authorities.

Bill Johnson of the RCA store, accompanied by his young son, Bruce, left last Sunday on a motor trip to some of the baseball training camps in the southern states.
Also, in the party was Wayne Berg, of Rivers, the tall, bespectacled boy who did a lot of tournament pitching in Eden last season.

Twenty-two years is a long time, and Jim Shearer has decided to call it quits after serving on the Neepawa Hospital Board since 1940.
His resignation was handed in effective Dec. 31, 1962 but he had been attending meetings since then in an advisory capacity.

Clerk of the month for January has been chosen by Neepawa Rotary Club's shoppers and the honors go to Mrs. Clara Hawkins of the Economy Department Store.
Mrs. Hawkins was guest of honor at the Rotary Club's regular noon luncheon last Friday and received the trophy from president Ivan Traill.

Neepawa fire chief Tim Prawdzik said in an interview Tuesday, that a build-up of an eighth of an inch of creosote can cause a chimney fire.
He warns everyone with a wood burning fireplace or stove to check it often for a buildup.

Gladstone's Development Corporation, Gladco, has formed a franchise in its continued efforts to bring natural gas to the town
Last Tuesday, Gladco president Tom Scott said forming a franchise appeared to be the only way natural gas would ever flow into Gladstone.
“We've had long talks with Centra Gas, but they are not interested in servicing the rural areas where return figures aren't very impressive,” said Scott.

The board of the Great Plains Interpretive Centre is packing it in, ending an eight-year project that never quite got off the ground.
And now board members are left to grapple with just what went wrong with a proposal that started off with such promise. Bill Stilwell, who helped spearhead the drive to establish the centre in 1995, said part of the problem was a major change in the agricultural climate.
“The time it started was one of relative prosperity time for farmers,” Stilwell said.
