The NACI Tigers won’t be able to finish their Westman High School Hockey League (WHSHL) season undefeated, but they have clinched the top seed for the playoffs. On Jan. 25, the Tigers’ 15-game unbeaten streak to start the season was snapped courtesy a 6-5 overtime loss to Russell’s Major Pratt Trojans. The next night a motivated NACI squad rebounded by thrashing Killarney/Wawanesa 12-1 to clinch first place in the 2012-13 WHSHL season. NACI will play its final game of the season in Carberry this Friday in a rubber match against the Major Pratt Trojans. Major Pratt currently sits second in the WHSHL standings. The WHSHL’s All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday in Hamiota. Rosters weren’t available by press time Monday morning. NACI’s Kyle McDonald currently leads the league in scoring with 47 points, and is tied for the league lead in goals with 18. Jesse Adams is fourth in scoring with 36 points while Riley Kolesar is fifth with 34 points. The Tigers’ Brady Plett leads all goaltenders with a 1.56 goals against average (GAA) in eight appearances this season. Grant Graham is third on the list with a 2.19 GAA in nine games played.
