Well here we go for another edition of what is or isn't new in our village. I can't say snow is new because it's been coming quite regularly during this past month of January, and now for some upcoming events in and around the town. BTAC and the McCreary Recreation office are sponsoring dance lessons for children ages 3-12. They will begin on March 6 and run for eight weeks. Ages 3-7 is creative movement 5-5:30 p.m, while ages 8-12 is jazz, hip hop from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. For more info please call 835-2192 or 835-2673. McCreary Recreation is have a party – spice up your Wednesdays with Zumba and Yogacize starting Feb. 13. The program is open to anyone, not only people from McCreary, and we must have 14 people to run this program. Call 835-2673 for more information. On Jan. 17 Jill Officer – a ladies curling notable and Olympic athlete – came to McCreary for a visit. Young and old were thrilled to meet her and listen to her curling wisdom. She visited the school and worked after school with junior hig hstudents at the rink. Jill also spent time at the Seniors Drop-in where a gathering of residents were there to meet her. This event was also enjoyed very much. The evening ended with a supper at the hall catered to by the graduation class of 2013. The McCrary Health Auxiliary held their annual meeting on Jan. 11. The executive are: president Sadie Leepart; vice-president Jean Buchanan; treasurer Vern Sheppard; Secretary Louise Hoskins. They have 58 members at present of which 15 are active. Kelwood Legion has had to postpone their belated awards presentations and supper which was to be held on Feb. 16, to a later date. Next meeting is Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. Starting in March, meeting nights will switch to the second Thursday of each month for a trial period.
