Frederick Howard Alguire of Neepawa, MB passed away peacefully on December 18, 2012 in Country Meadows PCH at the age of 88 years. Howard was born in 1924 to Frederick and Josephine (Nugen) Alguire in Neepawa where he spent most of his life except for 3 years while in the Navy during WW 2. He received many athletic awards while in grade school; graduated as a Radio Artificer 4th class Petty Officer from the Navy while serving on the H.M.C.S Dunver and H.M.C.S. Runnymede on the Mid Atlantic Escort Service and graduated from Angus School of Commerce in Winnipeg. He returned to Neepawa to join the partnership of the Alguire Bros. Wholesale Ltd. in 1946 and to eventually own and operate same until 1966. Following 1966, he worked at many interesting work places. Howard was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Masonic Lodge of MB at the time of his death. He served on the St. James Anglican Church vestry and volunteered on the Neepawa Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. His family knew that he would always be there for them. Howard leaves to mourn; his loving wife of 65 years, June (Mulvey); his daughters, Diane (Don) Pollock of Neepawa and Lee Block of Winnipeg; his granddaughters, Brandy (Dave) Newbold of Winnipeg, Kerry (Mike) Catchlove of Vancouver and Lauren Marrese of Grand Rapids, MI; great grandsons Carter and Ryland Newbold of Winnipeg, and sister-in-law Kay Pryde of Vancouver. Howard was predeceased by his sister Louise Kubic (2005) and grandson Paul Marrese (2006). A Funeral accompanied by the Honour Guard from The Royal Canadian Legion has taken place at St. James Anglican Church on December 21, 2012. Interment at the Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa followed the service.
