The NACI Tigers girls junior varsity team continues to win games, even against senior varsity competition. The JV Tigers are playing Zone 7 varsity teams throughout the season for a more competitive schedule, and plan to compete in the Zone 7 playoffs as they try to qualify for the A/AA JV Provincials. In the meantime, last Thursday the Tigers were ranked first for the third consecutive week in the A/AA Provincial Rankings, ahead of the (2) Teulon Saints, (3) Grandview Spartans and (4) Souris Sabres. Recent action Last Monday in Neepawa, the Tigers topped the senior varsity Minnedosa Chancellors 46-28. The game was close heading in to half, but the Tigers pulled ahead in convincing fashion in the second half to outscore the visitors by 18 points. In exhibition play during the week prior, the Tigers suffered a rare loss against a strong Vincent Massey Vikings senior varisty squad 44-25 Tuesday, Jan. 15 in Brandon. Halle Hayhurst had eight points and eight rebounds while Brooke Anderson had eight points and six rebounds. On the following Thursday, the girls rebounded to topple Carberry’s senior varsity team 50-17. Danielle Hanke had 12 points, seven steals and five assists, Hayhurst put in 13 points to go with four steals and eight rebounds, and Dariane Roe had four rebounds with 10 points.
