Members were busy with the brutal weather, helping motorists. The bad weather also brought out the impaired drivers, believe it or not. One impaired driver was tracked down at his house after backing into a fence. Another driver was reported to members after driving recklessly. He was stopped by members, and even though he said he hadn’t been drinking, he failed the roadside screening device. Later, at the detachment, he refused a breath test and that results in an automatic guilty charge. Another driver received a 24 hour suspension after failing the roadside screening device. Members were still giving out tickets. The Speeder of the Week was clocked at a brisk 130 kms. per hour. A stop sign ticket and a seatbelt ticket were handed out as well. A young driver learned that it is best not to pull “donuts” in a parking lot when you are just in the learner stage of your graduated licensing progression. He was issued tickets for drive imprudently, drive without motor vehicle liability insurance and drive without a supervising driver while in the learner’s stage. Also, his car was towed, and he will probably be set back in his attempt to get a driver’s licence.
