Farmers thrash Killarney

The Neepawa Farmers have won two of their last three games over the past two weeks to stay in second place in the Tiger Hills Hockey League’s (THHL) East Division. On Saturday, Neepawa used the hometown crowd to buoy it to a dominant 14-1 shellacking of Killarney. The big win came a night after the Farmers lost only their third game of the season by a 4-3 score to Swan Lake while on the road. Meanwhile, the weekend prior in Neepawa, the Farmers put together another big scoreline as they topped Pilot Mound 9-4 on Saturday, Dec. 22. Neepawa’s 8-win, 3-loss record trails only the Carberry Plainsmen’s 10-1-2 record in the East Division standings. Shane Jury continues to lead both the Farmers and the THHL in scoring this year, amassing 17 goals and 39 points in 11 games played. Meanwhile Bryan White sits tied for second in league scoring with 36 points in 11 games and Mike Nicholson is tied for fifth in league scoring with 31 points in 10 games played. Brad Nelson and Brad Wilson have split the majority of games in net for Neepawa this year with Nelson posting a 3.50 goals against average (GAA) and 4-2 record in 6 games played, and Wilson sitting at a 4.50 GAA and 2-2 record in 4 appearances.
