Brydges and Taylor Veterinary clinic has added a second veterinarian to its staff. Recent graduate Dr. Elizabeth Ostendorf joined the clinic in December and will be working alongside Dr. Fawcett Taylor. “We're very excited to have her come here,” Dr. Taylor said. Dr. Ostendorf comes to Neepawa after graduating from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, Saint Kitts this past September. Prior to that, she completed her undergraduate degree in Minnesota. After graduating, Dr. Ostendorf spent time working in the veterinarian field in her hometown of Effie, Minnesota before signing a one-year, renewable contract with the clinic in Neepawa. She started working at the clinic the week of Dec. 17 and says she's already starting to enjoy working in the community. “When I saw the job it was exactly what I was looking for and in a town the size that I wanted. It just seemed right,” Dr. Ostendorf said. “I'm getting used to the job now. I'm very excited to be here and to meet everybody.” The new veterinarian is also one of very few people who can say they moved to Neepawa and joined a community exponentially bigger than their own. Her hometown of Effie boasts a modest population of about 90 people. “It's big compared to where I came from,” Dr. Ostendorf joked. “This is a better-sized town for what I was looking for.” Ostendorf will be working with both pets and farm animals while in Neepawa.
