Super sweepers

The Plumas-based rink skipped by Bill Schettler is off to a steady start in the 2012 Westoba Credit Union Masters' Super League. The foursome started their season Oct. 10 with a 9-6 loss to Brandon's Wayne Griffin but rebounded later that day with an 8-4 win over Deloraine's Marty More to finish the opening week with a one-win, one-loss record in the league's 'Rock Solid Group' division. Meanwhile, the Westman Super League of Curling will once again feature the Neepawa-based rink skipped by Jerry Chudley and filled out by Brent McKee, Kevin Cooley and Paul Robertson. Chudley kicked off his 2012 campaign on Wednesday with a 4-3 win over Wawanesa's Perry Fisher One of the league's perennial powerhouses will be out of the mix this year though, as Neepawa's Kelly Robertson has opted to not compete in the league. Robertson will continue to curl with his senior men's team that has won two provincial titles, one national title and competed in the seniors world championship in recent years. Robertson was a seven-time champion of the Westman Super League.
