For Farmers coach Mike Levandosky the formula for his squad to get back in the series against the Brandon Cloverleafs is simple.
“We just need to start hitting the ball.”
After winning the opening game of the series, the Farmers have fallen behind 3-1 in the best-of-seven series against Brandon.
And, with the exception of Friday night's 10-0 loss in Neepawa, the Farmers have put themselves in a position to win games the entire series, losing the other two games by only one run each.
“We definitely could have won those other games,” Levandosky pointed out in an interview Monday morning. “Last night was a really close game.”
One of the struggles for Neepawa in Sunday's game was getting its hitting going.
“Our first six batters (in the lineup) were 3-for-22 last night and the three hits all came from one player,” Levandosky said. “We need to create more offence.”
The coach is happy with the arms he's been getting so far though, and if the bats start to heat up for the Farmers squad, a comeback still isn't out of the question.
“Our pitching's actually been pretty decent this whole series,” Levandosky pointed out.
The Farmers and Cloverleafs were scheduled to play Game 5 in Neepawa last night (Tuesday) and, if necessary, Game 6 is set for Friday in Brandon starting at 7 p.m.
Game 7 is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time in Neepawa Sunday.
