The upcoming Bed for Zedo Charity Golf Tournament is right around the corner and organizers are excited about the support they're receiving for the event.
Most recently, Brandon Shoppers Mall got on board to help out with the fundraising initiative for a giraffe isolet at Winnipeg's NICU by naming July as Stella Finds a Bed for Zedo Month at the mall.
As part of the recognition, tournament organizers will have a booth to promote the charity and golf event this Friday (July 6) throughout the day.
Signed sports memorabilia by personalities like Bobby Hull, Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux keep coming in for auctions, as does other local sponsorship, while CJOB's Health Report co-host Chuck Lafleche will be a special keynote speaker for the evening.
"It's crazy. For him to come to Neepawa for this is a big deal," Corrie Ford, event co-organizer, said. "We were nervous about this at first but it's turned out great."
The tournament still has a few spots open for golf teams.
A big part of the charity fundraiser will also be the supper and auction starting at 6:30 p.m., and social which begins at 9 p.m. Tickets to the supper and social can be bought separately from golf tournament entries and are available from Corrie and Ryan Ford at stellafindsabedforzedo@hotmail.ca or 476-5139, and at John's Electric Ltd.
"We still welcome people who don't golf to come enjoy the supper or have fun at the social," Corrie noted.
The golf tournament is set for July 13, while reserve bids for any auction items can be placed online at www.stellafindsabedforzedo.ca.
