Valeri Bure, Russ Courtnall to compete on Season 2 of 'Battle of the Blades'

TORONTO - Hockey stars Patrice Brisebois, Valeri Bure, Russ Courtnall and champion figure skater Ekaterina Gordeeva will be featured on the new season of CBC-TV's "Battle of the Blades."

They join previously announced hockey veteran Theo Fleury and returning figure skaters Shae-Lynn Bourne, Isabelle Brasseur and Jamie Sale.

The second season of the campy reality series, in which veteran hockey players are paired with former figure skating champs for dance routines, features international competitors from Russia and the United States.

Other hockey players to compete on the upcoming edition are Kelly Chase, Georges Laraque, P.J. Stock and Todd Warriner.

Rounding out the figure skating contingent is Violetta Afanasieva, Christine Hough-Sweeney, Kyoko Ina and Anabelle Langlois.

The new season of "Battle of the Blades" premieres Sept. 26 on CBC-TV. The live competition begins the following Sunday, Oct. 3.
