Town Council in brief

Neepawa Town Council is keeping quiet on details surrounding plans for a number of planned multi-unit housing complexes.
At the town council meeting held last Tuesday, August 17, plans were mentioned for potential solutions for the housing crunch in Neepawa on the way.
At the Aug. 17 Town council meeting during standing committee reports that there are currently several proposals for 12-plus unit housing complexes in the works.
"We don't have any details to give right now," said Coun. Wayne Hollier. "But we plan to check the progress in four to five months."

The audible crosswalk signal at the intersection of Mountain and Main is not working as intended.
"Currently a pedestrian has to hold the button for at least three seconds before it kicks in," said Neepawa councillor Wayne Hollier. "This could be a problem as I've seen people press the button and walk out onto the street before waiting."
Councillor Ron Forsman arranged for the crosswalk to be looked at early morning of Wednesday, Aug. 18, the morning after the council meeting. Forsman would also like to make clear that when the audible signal is activated at the intersection it indicates that Main is safe for crossing, not Mountain.

Brown Avenue, a commonly traveled route for children walking to school, will finally get a new sidewalk.
Neepawa Town council approved a new sidewalk at the Aug. 17 meeting with the hopes the sidewalk will be finished before school starts.
Currently, Brown Avenue's steep incline makes it difficult for both pedestrians and drivers to view the intersection.
