Rotary Clubs in District 5550 are looking for a team of four young professional or business people who are available for at least one month to travel to District 4490 Brazil in the Spring of 2011.
Selected candidates will travel from May 25 to June 21, 2011 as part of a Rotary Group Study Exchange. Candidates will be 25 – 40 years of age, Canadian citizens, be currently employed for at least two years in a profession or business, and be in good health.
Requirements include the ability to work as part of a team, act as an ambassador, and not be immediately related to members of Rotary.
The team, plus a Rotarian leader, will be selected from Rotary District 5550 which includes most of Saskatchewan (except western portion), Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario. Travel, accommodation, and meals are hosted while on the exchange. Team members are responsible for their passport, visa, apparel, medical and vaccinations costs. They will be required to attend a two-day orientation session prior to the travel.
The selection process involves completion of an application to a nearby Rotary club in the district (by August 27) and interview(s).

The Group Study Exchange is a vocational and cultural exchange for the purpose of promoting understanding and friendship. The host country will arrange home stays and daily schedules, including 3-5 days of vocational experiences of interest to each member. In turn, this Rotary District will host a team from England.
Interested Rotarians are also invited to apply electronically for the role of Team Leader. The Team will consist of four professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 years. The Team Leader assists in the selection of Team Members. The Team is planned to be in District 4490 May 25 to Jun 21, 2011.
The team leader application must first be endorsed by the applicant’s Rotary club. The club must then submit the endorsed team leader application to the district’s GSE Selection Committee, which submits the endorsed application to The Rotary Foundation. Deadlines for applications for Team Leader close July 29, 2010. Interviews will take place Sept. 10 & 11, 2010 at District central location.
The Team Leader is required to have computer skills and an email address because much of the team preparation will be electronic.
Responsibilities of the Team Leader:
The Team Leader acts as advocate, confidant, mediator, organizer, intermediary, consultant, colleague, friend, motivator, arbitrator, and protector of team members. As the only Rotarian on the team, the Team Leader is expected to assume complete control of the GSE Team and put its interests first.
The Team Leader will be expected to take an active role in a week-end orientation session with the team which will be the beginning of the arrangements for the exchange.
The expectations of the Team Leader is that this person in the five months preceding the exchange work closely with team members to coordinate all of the preparations necessary for the travel. This would include such things as flights, passports, visa’s, insurance, preparing a presentation, team attire and gifts to name a few.
Upon return the Team Leader must complete electronically several reports on the exchange for RI and have the team make an electronic presentation at District Conference
