The Gladstone 4-H Handi-Workers Club reorganized in October 2009 and held its Achievement on May 13, 2010.
20 members worked on a variety of projects; Exploring Leadership, Exploring Foods, Smart Sitter, Discover Your Look, Explore Fibres and Fabrics and Exploring 4-H.
14 members successfully completed the 4-H year. Zachary Fulton was awarded the Livingstone Women's Institute plaque for the best kept record book.
Highlights of the 4-H year included the Communications Event where five members Kayla Fehr, Amanda Doell, Zachary Fulton, Jaime Anderson and Nikki Anderson gave speeches. Nikki and Jaime Anderson represented the club at the Central Area Communications event in MacGregor where Nikki placed second in the junior speech category and Jaime placed first in the intermediate speech category.
Members and their families enjoyed a fun day at the Southport Pool last month and raised money for the club through a successful fundraiser with the popular Pay-What-You-Pull tickets.
Throughout the year, members attended 4-H events such as CRAZY camp and Area Council sponsored trips to Winnipeg (swimming, Aviation museum).
4-H, like many organizations, relies on a dedicated group of volunteers.
Thank you to our project leaders (Angela Pearen-Burnside, Donna Milne, Fran Clayton, Deanna Otto, Maria Boldt and Heather Lea) for mentoring and teaching our members new skills.
Thank you to the judges (Joyce Foster and Isobel Carruthers) of our club communications event and to our Achievement evaluators - Lee Watson, Meghan Sprung and Angela Pearen-Burnside.
