Representing Neepawa and District at the world's poultry contest to be held at Crystal Palace in London, England on July 22-30, the province of Manitoba has selected a trio of white orpingtons from Harry Frampton's yard. These birds are now on route to London, England.

Tues. July 9, 1940

Comfort and appearance deluxe have resulted from the recent renovations at the Neepawa Roxy theatre. Loen Asper, owner and manager has every reason to be proud of his modern picture palace. Those who remember the old opera house and compare it with the present building can hardly believe that such a transformation, both inside and out could be made.
Shortly after Mr. Asper purchased the building, many changes were made. Principally lowering the entrance and giving the structure a new "face" of stuko which made it stand out as one of the most attractive of Neepawa's business blocks.

A landmark of early Neepawa is slowly disapearing as workmen are busy tearing down the top two stories in rear of Aitken Brother,s garage which in the early days was one of the finest hotels in the province.
Horsemen's quarters were located on the second floor while the horses in the best style were boarded in with their story.

Premier Duff Roblin will officially open the Neepawa summer fair to be held next Tuesday, July 19, in a brief ceremony at 1:00 p.m. Neepawa Mayor, George Ray and MLA Nelson Shoemaker will also participate in the ceremony.

Thurs., July 9, 1970

A Cairn is being built this week on the site of the former Neepawa Central School by Alan Lytle which will be dedicated in a short ceremony, Monday, July 13 at 2:30 p.m. The site is now occupied by Fenwick's department store and Safeway. Officiating at the ceremony will be Chairman of Beautiful Plains School Division C.H. Hanson and Mayor Harry Smith of the town of Neepawa. The Cairn is being dedicated to all the former students, teachers and school boards connected with the school.
Neepawa Central School was built in 1898 by Fusee-Mcfeetors contractors at a total cost of $11,100. It was three stories high and contained eight regular classrooms plus three others on the third floor. The building was demolished in 1954.

Thurs., July 10, 1980

Dale Lyle, 21, has been appointed new secretary-treasurer for the town of Neepawa effective August 1, 1980, Neepawa Mayor Gary McElmon announced at last Wednesday's council meeting.
Lyle will replace current secretary-treasurer George Bates who retires on July 25, 1980 after working 26 years for the town.

Tues., July 10, 1990

Kevin McGillvray and Craig Perrett of Neepawa were presented Duke of Edinburgh gold awards by Prince Edward during the royal tour in Winnipeg this week. McGillvray and Perrett were among eighteen receipients honored at a special ceremony at the Manitoba Legislature building.
The Duke of Edinburgh awards program is a non-competitive undertaking designed to develop responsibility, citizenship and maturity in participants between the ages of 14 and 23.

Mon., July 10, 2000

Robert Scott won the by-election in the rural Municipality of Rosedale last Wednesday, polling 88 votes. Scott easily outdistanced his competitor, Marion Robulak who received 33 votes and Harry Jackson who received 5.
The by-election was called to fill ward 2 vacated by Darin Edgar. Scott's term will end in November, 2002.
