Lorne Nagorski of Brothers of the Road will be performing at the 2010 Canada Day celebrations at Riverbend Park.

Neepawa’s Canada Day will be just ducky.

The Lions Club along with many other community organizations have thrown the big bash every year and decided to bring in more inflatable jumpers for the kids and to add a fundraiser with a duck race.

"The duck race is for fun and to raise funds for the Lions Club to be able to give back to the community. There is lot's for the kids to do this year," Darren Roe, Neepawa Lions Club member, said.

The duck race will consist of 200 ducks being sold, $1 for kids and $5 for adults. Prizes that can be won range from $10 to $35 for the kids and $25 to $75 for adults. The ducks will be sent down the river at Riverbend Park beginning at 7:15 p.m..

Access 2 Books is once again putting on supper; there will be Neepawa Day Camp staff doing face painting; a concession on-site; glow sticks; local entertainment starting at 7 p.m.; free swimming and the fireworks show that usually starts at 10:30 p.m..
"There will be a single firework go up 15 minutes prior to the show signaling for everyone to gather for the spectacular show that is put on by Arch Angel. They do an incredible show," Roe said.

Blake Williams, who is also assisting with the Canada Day celebrations, said that any child under 12 will receive a free hot dog and drink courtesy of Weston's Bakery and Pepsi.

"We are very thankful for them doing this, the kids love it," Williams said.
The one word of advice given out to those attending is to bring insect repellent.
Despite the skitters, Roe is excited about helping host Canada’s Birthday celebration in Neepawa.

"This is an important day to celebrate, we can be proud, we have fun putting it on, it's a good day. We want to thank everyone, it's a Neepawa Canada Day, lots of people put in lots of time and effort, we just want you to come out and enjoy," Roe said.

Supper begins at 5 p.m. with everything else following, Brothers of the Road will begin performing at 7 p.m. along with other local entertainment.
