The town band rendered several selections from the band stand on Friday night. If it was a poor taste of what is expected in the future, there will be many eager listeners.

Neepawa will be the bargain of the whole district Thursday, June 20. Store shelves will be piled high with quality goods at saving some prices. With quantity sales, the merchants will be in an excellent position to pass on to their customer friends, savings that otherwise it could not have been possible to offer.
Everybody will benefit, the more business, the more employment. The more sales, the greater the savings. The more bargains, the greater quantity the customers will be able to buy.

One new business in Neepawa is confirmed and inquiries about another have been made, it was learned here today. E. Justin Hipwell, of Arden, purchased a property next to the firehall, where excavations for a full basement will commence immediately for his new building which will house equipment for the manufacturer of fruit and syrup.
Mr. Hipwell, forty-four years in the Arden district, took over the fruit and syrup manufacturing business from his father who retired in 1940.

Neepawa has always been a haven for small branch lying steam power. No doubt many a Neepawaian had thrilled to the sharp rythmical blast of a steam engine's exhaust or can recall the haunting echo of a steam whistle as it echoed and rechoed across the countryside. What man at sometime in his life had not pictured himself the throttle of a steam engine as it pounded out of the Neepawa yard?
Unfortunately for those enthusiastic non-railroaders and railroaders alike, who suffer from railroaditis where steam locomotiveania, steam power has reached the end of the line.
As of April 30, old 2160, the last steam engine to see serviced out of Neepawa, was officially retired and pulled out of service, a new era had arrived.

Fifty or sixty people, including high school students, farmers, businessmen, housewives and even senior citizens worked away the afternoon with push brooms, squeegees, and mechanized floor-scrubbers after the fire department hosed down the complete interior of the large storage building, removing the salt residue and transforming it into a hall, three times the size of the legion hall.

One week into Neepawa's first strike by health support workers, a mood of bitterness has settled in East View Lodge. At the Neepawa Memorial District Hospital, the mood around strikers is calm and determined.
Health services at both facilities continue to operate, although at a reduced level. Both administrators said Tuesday, they have enough volunteer helpers and a handful of striking CUPE members to continue providing basic services.
